Welcome to My Personal Page
As many of you know I'm blessed to be celebrating several things in the last 7 days- completing a personal challenge and personal best of cycling from Seattle to Vancouver Canada- 180 miles in 2 days, then the joy of bringing home a beautiful miniature poodle pup Marley and today, celebrating 34 years of marriage to my best friend. I'm very lucky and blessed and try hard not to take it for granted- in fact I know that my life experiences with a devoted husband is not true for many women- many have suffered untold misery at the hands of a man- a man they thought loved them. So, to combine my new love of cycling and to pay forward my blessings, I'm riding Cycle the Wave- a fundraiser for domestic violence education and supporting programs. I
I just registered for the 10th Anniversary of Cycle & Walk the WAVE on Sunday, September 17. I'm excited to be participating in this all-women cycling and walk event, and to help Raise Awareness about the problems of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Please consider a donation of any size in support of this ride. I'm riding the 29 mile loop so if you need a suggested amount, perhaps $1 for each mile.
thank you in advance- I've donated the first $70 toward my goal of $1500!!!!
Did you know. . .
- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
- On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. This equates to more than 10 Million people per year.
- 3.3 million children experience domestic violence in the United States each year.
- 1 in 3 young people will experience teen dating violence.
The WAVE Foundation raises awareness about the societal impact of sexual assault and domestic violence. The WAVE Foundation builds community and fundraises to address the issue. They are empowering everyone, particularlyyouth and young adults, to recognize the warning signs of violence and to prevent its occurrence.
Funds I raise will support Discover Your Power, The WAVE Foundation's direct school-based educational program that teaches youth empowerment and confidence with regard to healthy relationships, and to other domestic violence agencies in Washington State.
It's easy. You can make a donation here using your credit card, or send a check payable to The WAVE Foundation to 1420 NW Gilman Blvd., Suite 2314, Issaquah, WA 98027. Please include my name on your check.
If you'd like to participate in the event, you can register at cyclethewave.org. Please let me know if you register so we can form a Team!
Thank you for your help. You are playing an important role in ending domestic violence.
